Q-FENCE participated in “Beyond the Algorithm: The Road to Quantum Safe Europe”, organised by the SPQR Cluster

Bucharest, Romania – June, 2026

The Q-FENCE project was represented at the “Beyond the Algorithm: The Road to Quantum Safe Europe” (a SPQR Cluster and PQ-REACT event) conference on 11 June 2026, through the participation of the project partner University of Bucharest.

For this reason, cryptography can be considered one of the quiet infrastructures of digital life. It is rarely noticed when it works correctly, but a very large number of services depend on it: electronic payments, cloud platforms, software updates, digital signatures, health records, satellite links, and industrial systems.

The conference brought together project representatives, researchers, policymakers and legal experts to discuss the future of Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC).

Bringing together the projects within the cluster, the event served as an important facilitator for exchanging knowledge and ideas, as well as tightening collaboration among the participants affiliated to the cluster but also external participants from academia and industry.

Q-FENCE’s representatives highlighted the project’s vision for secure and trustworthy digital infrastructures in the post-quantum era and shared insights on the challenges and opportunities of transitioning to PQC during their active participation within two sessions: the “SPQR Cluster – Key Objectives & Vision” and the “PQC Stakeholder Engagement & Applications” panel.

The conference put focus on practical use-cases and demonstrations, highlighted several practical lessons for organisations beginning their PQC migration, and displayed the role of the SPQR cluster projects – including Q-FENCE – towards a smoother transition towards quantum-safety. Q-FENCE’s participation in the event reflects its commitment to engaging within the cluster community and advancing the transition towards quantum-safe digital security.
